Crysta Krause, Head Coach
Crysta Krause has been acting as head coach of the Red Dragons since August of 2009. Prior to coaching for the Red Dragons she was an assistant coach for the Willmar Aquatic Racing Stingrays (W.A.R.S.) and worked primarily with the Mini-Ray groups developing stroke technique and introducing young swimmers to the world of competitive swimming. In addition to coaching, Crysta was also a 4 year member of the MSUM swim team and a team captain for two of those years holding multiple school, pool and freshman records. Crysta currently lives in Moorhead with her husband Brian and sons Easton and Braden.
Olivia de Gruchy, Assistant Coach
Olivia de Gruchy is from Genoa, IL and competitively swam for 12 years, including four years at the collegiate level where she served as captain for 2 years. Olivia swam butterfly, IM and distance free. Prior to coaching for the Dragons she taught swimming lessons for Dragon Swim School and coached the Swim Team class. In addition to swimming, Olivia coached a stroke clinic for 3 years for DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) helping new and returning swimmers to become more comfortable with their strokes. She also coached 5-14 year olds for two years at DCST. Olivia graduated from MSUM in May, 2013 with her BSW and a minor in English writing. She started coaching the Red Dragons in 2010 and enjoys the opportunity not only to work in the sport of swimming but to also work with so many great families.
Jensen Maiden, Assistant Coach
Jensen Maiden is from Buffalo, MN and is a junior at Concordia College. She was a swimmer for 10 years with the Wright County WAVE Swim Club, and she also swam for 3 years in high school. From January 2008 until July 2010 she coached beginning swimmers for the WAVE with primary focus on strokes, starts, and turns. She joined the Red Dragon coaching staff in March of 2012, and her favorite thing about coaching swimming is watching kids develop a love for the sport.
Tony Roetzel, Assistant Coach
Tony Roetzel is from Apple Valley MN. Tony started swimming in 7th grade and competed both with his high school team and club team Black Dog through his senior year. During high school Tony was a volunteer coach for the Valley Middle School Swim Team under Hall of Fame coach Mike McManus, where he worked on building basic techniques and teaching all that goes with competitive swimming. When Tony is not swimming he enjoys playing soccer and ultimate Frisbee. Tony is going to Minnesota State University Moorhead for International business, marketing, and a minor in Spanish.
Diana Cobbs, Assistant Coach
Diana Cobbs is from Minneapolis, MN where she swam for the Richfield Swim Club for 6 years. She swam for Concordia College from 1999-2003 and also coached with the Moorhead Marlin Swim Team for 5 years. Diana is now a first and second grade teacher with the Moorhead Public Schools and her favorite thing about coaching is seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and watching them develop their strokes.
